Tourist Information
The castle is open for public tours seven days a week. Dinner is served at 5 pm each day. Reservations are required for overnight visits to the castle. If you plan to extend your visit for more than one day, send a letter to the castle in advance. Be aware of the many ghosts that reside in the castle.

The Old Castle
Alacantar Castle is the largest castle in the entire region built solely for the purpose of proclaiming Alacantar’s great destiny as the foremost Kingdom throughout the land.
Castle Defenses
Castles were built during a time in history when people did not trust their neighbors. They were also a display of wealth and power for the edification of those that occupied the castle. With wealth and power comes the need to protect it as someone else surely schemes to lay their hands on it.
Dungeons
Dungeons are generally the basements of castle and a place where prisoners were kept. Alacantar Castle has several dungeons and a torture chamber. Dungeons are located under the North Wing, West Tower, and the Keep.
Curtain Walls
The Curtain Walls of Alacantar Castle rise to an average height of sixty feet.
East Tower
The East Tower is the newest tower built at Alacantar Castle. Completed just over two hundred years ago, the tower was among the tallest in the world for its day.
